As a result of the testing this week, not much class time was available for working on our Health project. Consequently, the assignment's due date will be Mon Dec 4.

Math Test will be held on Wednesday, after 2 days of review. Make sure that you are familiar with Pythagorean Relationship and using the formula to find a missing value. Be sure to revisit everything from Quiz 1.

Using the "Important Links" section of the blog, design a one day meal plan, that best reflects your macro and micro-nutrient needs, while providing 3 meals and 2 snacks.
-measure your height, weight and waist size
-go to "Health Project" and find your BMI, % body fat, BMR etc
-use that information on "Chronometer" to create your meal plan.
-present your meal plan in a table with time of day, food and amount of macros (protein, fat, carbs)
-present a concluding report at the end of your assignment. (e.g. list the total protein, fat (saturated, unsaturated and trans), carbs (fibre, starch and sugars), as well as any vitamins and minerals as you see fit (the more detailed, the better).

Thursday Nov 16 at 10:00 is our slot for the Book Fair so please bring your money for this date.
We are currently collecting money for our trip to the Movies on Nov 20 and House League T-shirts.

Wed Nov 15 is the date for confessions

Tomorrow will be Quiz 1 for our Math unit, you'll be answering questions concerning exponents, decimal numbers in expanded form as powers of ten AND the reverse, and comparing exponents.

For Wednesday, we will finish our Geography assignments with a 7-10 sentence paragraph, discussing What elements of your work address the specific needs of your audience and how you have persuaded them to support your economic system.

Tomorrow you will be given class time to work on your presentations for Religion (Due Tues Nov 21). These should discuss a value that is very strong in your family, that keeps you rooted. Share the historical context and/ or event(s) that helped solidify this as a valued attribute in your family (e.g. frugality, hard work, making time to be together, mentoring/ modelling, taking time to honour lost family members, etc.)

Math Test 3 will take place on Monday November 6 in the morning. We will spend the next few days prepping for it. Topics will include:
Census/ Sample
Mean, Median, Mode, Outliers
Histograms- (used when data are continuous, frequency, intervals, frequency tables)
Circle graphs- used when data are part of a whole e.g. percents
Line Graphs- used when changes in data are shown over time
Bar Graphs- for discrete values, when data can be counted separately


Wednesday Nov 8 Geography- Propaganda posters- select one of the economic systems covered in class (traditional, market, command, mixed) and create a media piece designed to "Sell" your country on this system. Use imagery and text that speaks to your audience. Prepare a written piece to attach to your project. It should discuss:
why your economic system is superior
who your audience is (be specific e.g. the poor, farmers, billionaires, government workers etc)
what motivates your audience?
what scares them?
who in your country will gain?
who will have to make sacrifices to make your system work
how much of a role will government play?
